Brittany Kelly Places 12th in LPGA Futures Tour Event

Brittany Kelly, a senior member of the Ball State University women's golf team, tied for 12th in the Ladies Professional Golf Association Futures Tour 2011 Qualifying Tournament.
Kelly shot a 71-69-72-78=290 in the tournament and was the fourth best amateur in the field.
A starting field of 308 players from 38 nations competed in Central Florida on three courses for 2011 LPGA Futures Tour playing status. The 72-hole tournament was staged at Winter Haven's Lake Region Yacht & Country Club, Ridgewood Lakes Golf & Country Club in Davenport, Fla., and Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla. The final round was played only at Lake Region.
Exempt and non-exempt status for the 2011 LPGA Futures Tour will be determined following the completion of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in December at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Kelly leads the Cardinals with a 75.31 average this fall after the first five events of the season. She posted three top-10 finishes this fall, including a second place showing at the Iowa Hawkeye Intercollegiate where she carded a 71-75-74=220. Kelly was named a Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week after scoring a 71-75-75=221 at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational where she tied for fourth.
A 2010 All-MAC and All-MAC Tournament selection, Kelly also was named to the Academic All-MAC squad and was a National Golf Coaches Association Scholar as a junior. Her 75.06 average as a junior set the school record for lowest one-year average in a single season. Her two-year average of 76.47 from 2008-10 is also a Ball State school standard, as is her three-year average of 76.75.
