Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals fell to Big Ten foe Indiana in their season opener at home by a score of 81-66. Ball State trailed IU at the half by only a basket. For the game senior guard Ty'Ronda Benning led BSU with 16 total points. IU transfer and senior guard Ebony Jackson chipped in 13 points while classmate Emily Maggert ended the night with 10 points. E. Jackson and Maggert led the squad defensively with nine boards a piece.
Scouting Wright State: Behind double-double efforts from Molly Fox and Tanni Scott and 15 points by LaShawna Thomas, the Wright State women's basketball team won its first game under new head coach Mike Bradbury Friday night, defeating the IUPUI Jaguars 64-45 at The Jungle in Indianapolis.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her third season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 40-27, while her Mid-American Conference mark is 21-11 . . . Wright State's head coach is Mike Bradbury . . . he enters his first season as head coach for the Raiders .
The Series: Tonight's game is the 13th meeting all-time between Ball State
and Wright State. The Raideres lead the all-time series record 7-5. The Cardinals have won their last two meetings over Wright State. Ball State defeated WSU 65-61 in Worthen Arena Dec. 10, 2008 in its last meeting the time before that was a 61-52 victory for BSU in Dayton in 2007.
Horizon League : The Cardinals will face four school's from the Horizon League this season Wright State, Detroit Mercey, Valparaiso and Butler. Ball State travels to Detroit Mercy Tuesday for its third meeting with Titans in school history. The series is tied 1-1 between the two schools'.
