Football's Orsbon Earns Academic Honor

Briggs Orsbon, a junior member of the Ball State football program with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, has been selected to the ESPN Academic All-District Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He will be placed on the national ballot and is eligible for ESPN Academic All-America status.
Orsbon, a business major, leads the Cardinals with 19 catches this season. He has 201 receiving yards and is averaging 10.6 yards per catch. Orsbon tallied his first receiving touchdown of the season with 34 seconds left in regulation vs. Eastern Michigan to force the game into overtime.
He tallied 13 catches for 141 yards vs. Buffalo in the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championship Game, both totals were career highs and set Mid-American Conference Championship Game records. He blocked the first punt of his career with 3:18 remaining in the third quarter of Ball State's season opener vs. Southeast Missouri State.
