
Men?s S&D Captures Ball State Relay Invitational Title

MUNCIE, Ind. - - In a non-traditional meet comprised entirely of relay events, the Ball State men's swimming & diving team posted a 204 to 154 victory over Evansville in Saturday morning's Ball State Relay Invitational at the Lewellen Aquatic Center.
Overall, the Cardinals scored wins in seven of the 12 men's events.
BSU started the meet with a victory in the 300-yard butterfly relay, as Tony DeBrota, Michael Oaks and Chris Krupa combined for a first-place time of 2:42.48.
The Cardinals continued their winning ways in the second event, as Michael Weber, Tucker Hale and Cameron Watters turned in a time of 2:45.73 to win the 300 backstroke relay.
BSU's third win came in the 300 breaststroke relay, where Krupa, David Wood and Gavin McNeeley clocked in at 3:02.01.
After three-straight wins from Evansville, the Cardinals broke through with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as Weber, McNeeley, Krupa and Casey Schroeder posted a time of 1:39.06.
Ball State followed with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Krupa, McNeeley, Hale and Debrota combined for an effort of 1:29.47.
BSU went on to win two of the next three events to help secure the meet victory. In the second-longest race of the day, the 1500 freestyle relay, Mark Golden, Nick Stevens and Ryan Gordyan clocked in at 15:32.45 for the victory.
The Cardinals final event win came in the 400 medley relay, as Krupa, McNeeley, Debrota and Weber combined to touch the final wall in 3:42.82.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action Sunday, Oct. 24, when it travels to Charleston, Ill., to battle Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. (CT).
