CHARLESTON, Ill. - The Ball State men's swimming and diving team suffered a one-point loss in a dual meet Sunday afternoon as the Cardinals fell to Eastern Illinois 103-102 at Padovan Pool. The Cardinals won six out of 11 events in the loss to fall to 1-1 on the young season, snapping BSU's four-year winning streak against head coach Bob Thomas' alma mater.
Ball State had three different swimmers win two events apiece in the loss. Senior Mark Golden (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) took home victories in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:24.54) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.59) to garner the Cardinals 18 points.
Junior Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) took home to first place finishes as well as he won the 200-yard IM (1:58.31) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.11).
