Women's S&D Swims At Eastern Illinois Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team will look to capture its second dual meet victory of the season Sunday, when it travels to Eastern Illinois for a 1 p.m. (CT) swim versus the Panthers at Padovan Pool.
The Cardinals are 1-0 entering Sunday's meet thanks to a 195-103 victory over Evansville in its first dual meet of the season Oct. 8. The following morning, Ball State also placed first out of four teams in the Ball State Relay Invitational which was a non-traditional meet comprised of all relay events.
Eastern Illinois enters the meet with a 0-1 record after suffering a 132-70 setback at IUPUI Thursday evening.
In its first dual meet of the season, the Cardinals posted victories in 12 of the 16 events, with four different swimmers collecting a pair of individual wins.
Senior Maria Gramelspacher (Jasper, Ind./Jasper H.S.) tallied wins in the 100 and 200 butterfly, posting times of 57.97 and 2:07.14, respectively. She also swam the third leg for the first-place 200 medley relay which clocked in at 1:47.94.
Fellow senior Katie Bylsma (Westfield, Ind./Pinckney H.S.) scored wins in the two spring freestyle events, clocking a 24.72 in the 50 and 53.84 in the 100. She also swam the anchor for the first-place 200 medley relay.
In her first collegiate meet, freshman Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell H.S.) added first-place efforts in the 100 (1:06.21) and 200 (2:23.18) breaststroke, while swimming the second leg for the first-place 200 medley relay. Junior Nicole Saulters (Highland, Ind./Highland H.S.) swam the first leg for the winning relay.
Also collecting a pair of wins in her first meet with the Cardinals was freshman Emily Wisolek (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge H.S.), who took home top billing in the 200 freestyle (1:56.01) and 200 backstroke (2:08.75).
Other individuals scoring even wins for the Cardinals were junior diver Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) on the one-meter board (238.72), freshman Mallory Miles (Holland, Ind./Southridge H.S.) in the 100 backstroke (59.02) and freshman Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City H.S.) in the 200 individual medley (2:11.11).
