Ball State Head Coach Stan Parrish: Coach Parrish (Heidelberg '69) is in his fifth season at Ball State, and in his first full season as the school's head coach . . . Parrish was named the Cardinals 15th head football coach Dec. 18, 2008, and was the head mentor in Ball State's Jan. 6, 2009, GMAC Bowl appearance . . . Parrish became the first Ball State assistant coach to be promoted to head coach since Wave Myers in 1968 . . . Parrish was one of five finalists for the 2008 Broyles Award, which goes to the nation's top assistant coach . . . He owns a 57-43-3 career head coaching record, which include's stints at Wabash (1978-82), Marshall (1984-85) and Kansas State (1986-88) . . . Parrish earned a college football national championship ring as a member of the 1997 Michigan coaching staff and owns a NFL Super Bowl ring after serving as the quarterbacks coach of the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers . . . New Hampshire Head Coach Sean McDonnell: Coach McDonnell (New Hampshire '78) is in his 11th season as the Wildcats head coach and owns a 71-49 mark at UNH . . . He was the offensive coordinator at New Hampshire for five seasons before being named head coach in 1999.
Scouting New Hampshire: The Wildcats opened the 2009 season with a 24-14 home win over St. Francis (Pa.) Saturday . . . New Hampshire is coming off a fifth straight winning season and second straight Colonial Athletic Association North Division Championship . . . UNH was picked to win the North Division of the CAA in this year's preseason poll conducted by the league . . . The Wildcats were 10-3 in 2008 . . . UNH enters the season ranked eighth in both of the major Football Championship Subdivision polls after finishing No. 7 or No. 8 in most national polls a year ago . . . The Wildcats defeated Army in 2008, giving the program four straight wins over Football Bowl Subdivision schools . . . New Hampshire has also defeated Rutgers (2004), Northwestern (2006) and Marshall (2007).
* Ball State owns a 9-3 record at Scheumann Stadium in the last 12 games.
* Ball State's 2008 Mid-American Conference West Division Championship was the Cardinals first-ever outright division title since the league went to divisions in 1997. Ball State tied for the division title in 2001 and 2007, but lost the tiebreaker in both seasons.
* The Cardinals have gone 47 straight games without being shutout, which is the third longest stretch in Ball State history. The last time a Ball State team did not score in a game was Oct. 1, 2005, at Boston College.
* Ball State made back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time in the school's 84-year history after playing in the International Bowl after the 2007 season and the GMAC Bowl last year. Ball State has also competed in the 1996 Las Vegas Bowl, the 1993 Las Vegas Bowl, the 1989 California Raisin Bowl and the Grantland Rice Bowl in 1965 and 1967.
* The Cardinals have played on national television eight times in the last two seasons, and have played 10 of its last 14 games on TV. Ball State is slated for television games five more times this season.
* Brandon Crawford (Fort Wayne, Ind./South H.S.) and Madaris Grant (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Healthy H.S.), both senior members of the Ball State University football team, have been named co-captains for the 2009 season.
* MiQuale Lewis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) ranks sixth in Ball State's record books for career rushing yards with 2,566 . . . He needs 160 rushing yards to move into fifth in Ball State annals.
* Sean Baker (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield H.S.) managed his first interception of the season and the seventh pick of his career vs. North Texas in Ball State's season opener.
* True freshman Seth White (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley H.S.) led BSU with four catches for 47 yards in his collegiate debut vs. North Texas last Saturday.
