Men's Golfer Ross Cosat Named All-America Scholar

Ross Cosat (Carthage, Ind./Knightstown H.S.), who will be a senior member of the Ball State University golf team this fall, has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
A total of 108 players were honored from NCAA Division I on the team, which is selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. A recipient must be a junior or senior academically, have a minimum grade-point average of 3.2, have a stroke average under 76.0 and compete in 70 percent of the team's competitive rounds. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his university.
Cosat owns a 3.478 GPA on Ball State's 4.0 scale as a marketing and finance major. He managed a 75.63 average for the Cardinals last season, while posting two top-10 finishes. Cosat tied for sixth at the Ball State Cardinal Collegiate in Jasper, Ind., March 28, to help the team to the tournament team championship. He also posted a team-best ninth-place showing at the Michigan State Fossum Invitational April 25-26.
Cosat becomes the 24th men's golfer in Ball State history to receive the GCAA honor.
The Cardinals, under the direction of head coach Mike Fleck, will open the 2009-10 season at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Sept. 12-13, at Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
