Softball?s Milian Earns Second MAC Pitcher of the Week Award

MUNCIE, Ind. ? Ball State junior pitcher Elizabeth Milian (Grand Blanc, Mich.) has been named to Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week as announced by league officials Tuesday for the second time this season.
This is the fourth time Milian has earned the pitching award in her career after receiving it March 17 and also twice as a freshman. She received MAC West Player of the Week for April 1 as a sophomore last season.
After her 102nd career appearance, Milian helped the Cardinals win their fifth straight conference game for a 6-1 record this weekend after sweeping Buffalo and earning a win over defending MAC champions Kent State. She finished with a 1.00 ERA in two complete games with a total of 17 strikeouts. On Saturday, Milian gave up just one hit in her seven-inning shutout against Kent State and no walks.
Milian posted 12 strikeouts throughout seven innings while giving up just three hits against the Bulls in game one Friday. She struck out two batters in every inning but two in which she fanned one apiece. She also went 2-for-3 with two runs, while logging the game-winning RBI double for a .667 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Milian and the Cardinals head to Bowling Green Friday for a double header beginning at 1 p.m. Ball State travels to Toledo 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday to close out the weekend.
