Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at MAC Championships

Ball State's women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Mid-American Conference Championships played at Longaberger Golf Course in Nashport, Ohio.
The Cardinals managed a 342-323-331-317=1313 team score in the four round event.
Sophomore Brittany Kelly was named to the All-MAC Second Team for her body of work on the season. She completed the league championships with an 84-79-79-79=321 to finish 11th in the 45-player field. Her 11th-place finish marked the ninth top-20 finish of the season for Kelly, and it was her eighth top-10 placing of the season.
Kent State, which is ranked 18th in the nation, won the event with a 1217.
Rachael Pruett, a BSU sophomore, tied for 21st at the MAC with an 87-76-87-78=330. Freshman Kristtini Cain finished 23rd after carding an 86-88-81-77=332. Junior Kirsty O'Connor shot an 83 Sunday to finish with an 89-78-84-83=334. Senior Sarah Windlan managed an 85-89-89-90=353 to finish 40th as Ball State's only senior.
The Cardinals won three tournaments this season -- the Ball State Cardinal Classic, the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational and the Eastern Kentucky El Diablo Invitational. At the Cardinal Classic, Ball State set a school record for low 18-hole round with four counters when they carded a 292 in the first round. The Cardinals also set a school record for low 36 holes with a 594 to win the event.
