Softball?s Montalto Receives MAC Player Of The Week Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. ? Ball State freshman catcher Amanda Montalto (Las Vegas, Nev. /Palo Verde) has been named to Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week as announced by league officials Tuesday.
For the third consecutive week, a Ball State softball player has received the MAC honor. This is the first time Montalto has received it in her first year as a Cardinal.
Amanda Montalto helped her team to a 13-2 MAC record with three more conference wins last weekend. In four games, she led with a .700 batting average and 1.400 slugging percentage, while going 7-for-10 in the box. She notched one double and two home runs for seven RBI.
Against Western Michigan alone, she finished 4-for-5 for a .800 average and an astounding 2.000 slugging percentage in two games. Her second home run of the day, and in her career, drove in three runs and proved to be the game winning hit as the Cardinals defeated the Broncos in five innings. She jumped four spots and now leads the team with an overall .375 average.
