MUNCIE, Ind. - Freshman Cliff Morrison of the Ball State University men's tennis team has been named Mid-American Conference Tennis Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office today.
Morrison went 2-1 in singles action last weekend at the Boise State Invitational. He only lost once but the match was close against Memphis losing in three sets. Morrison won his doubles match 8-1 in the Cardinals 7-0 victory over Idaho State.
With the two wins over the course of the weekend Morrison improved to 12-3 on the season. The true freshman owns the best singles overall record out of all the Cardinals. Morrison lost to Michael Hayes of Memphis, 2-6, 7-6, 3-6 at No. 5 singles; defeated Ross Dechant of Idaho State, 6-1, 6-4 No. 4 singles; and defeated Ching Holden of Sacramento State at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 7-6, 7-3.
The Ball State men's tennis team travels to Buffalo Friday in MAC action. The match will begin at 5 p.m.
