Women?s Basketball Advances To Semifinals Of MAC Tournament
March 14, 2009 | Women's Basketball
“I'm obviously pleased on a lot of different levels,” said head women's basketball coach Kelly Packard. “The first one would be that we've been an offensive team all year long. Where we've struggled and what I have said is we will get as far into March as our defense takes us. I really felt like the first half today was a team that finally decided it would work just as hard on defense as it does on offense. Our defense led to our offense today.”
The Cardinals have now won nine-straight which is the third longest win streak in program history.
Three Cardinals reached double digit figures with sophomore forward and Third Team All-MAC selection Emily Maggert leading the Cardinals with 20 points. Junior forward and Third Team All-MAC honoree Danielle Gratton along with freshman guard Patrice King each chipped in 12 points apiece. Senior guard Kiley Jarrett dished out a game-high nine assists.
