
Gymnastics Team Places Fourth at Kentucky Invitational

The Ball State women's gymnastics team finished fourth out of five teams at the Kentucky Invitational Friday. The Cardinals tallied a season best team score of 193.350, while Kentucky won the event with a 195.250. North Carolina was second with a 194.825, Illinois was third at 194.200 and the Cardinals defeated William and Mary's 188.750.
Ball State managed season best team scores on the vault with a 48.750 and on the floor with a 48.375. The Cardinals tallied a 48.125 on the bars and a 48.100 on the beam.
Freshman Brittney Emmons tied for first on the vault with a 9.875, and competed in all four events for the first time in her career. She was Ball State's top performer on the floor with a 9.775 and tallied a 38.500 in the all-around.
Fifth-year senior Teresa Phipps was Ball State's top performer on the bars with a 9.725. Freshman Kayla Kmiecik was the team's best on the beam with a 9.700.
Ball State will compete at Michigan State with California Sunday, March 8, in East Lansing, Mich. The Cal Bears are coached by Ball State alum Cari Dubois.
The Cardinals will host the Mid-American Conference Championships March 21 at 1 p.m. at Worthen Arena. Call the Ball State ticket office to purchase your tickets.
