MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior forward Danielle Gratton (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) of the Ball State University women's basketball team has been named Mid-American COnference Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office today. This is Gratton's first time in her career to garner such honors.
"Danielle's MAC Player of the Week honor is well deserved and recognizes the substantial impact she had on both victories last week," said Ball State head women's basketball coach Kelly Packard. "Danielle has the ability to play numerous positions and she has been very willing to serve our team by stepping into a variety of roles both offensively and defensively."
Gratton helped the Cardinals to a 2-0 record last week with a 88-80 non-conference overtime win Wednesday over North Dakota and a 81-66 victory Saturday in Mid-American Conference action against Miami. With the win over Miami Ball State took sole possession of the MAC West Division at 6-1. Gratton averaged 20.0 points a game while scoring a career-high 21 points against North Dakota. She also averaged 7.0 rebounds per game. Gratton led the Cardinals in scoring against Miami with 19 points. She also pulled down seven boards in that contest.
The Ball State Univesity women's basketball team travels to MAC East Division leader Bowling Green (18-2, 7-0 MAC) Tuesday night at Anderson Arena tipoff is at 7 p.m.
