
Gymnastics Suffers Close Loss at Eastern Michigan

Ball State's women's gymnastics team suffered a 193.325 to 191.900 loss at Eastern Michigan Sunday.
The Cardinals opened the meet with a victory in the vault competition. Ball State managed a 48.625 team score in the vault, while EMU tallied a 48.200. Junior Ashley Jacob and freshman Daneen Haba tied for first in the vault with a 9.800 score, while freshman Brittney Emmons finished third with a 9.800.
Eastern Michigan won the bars 48.625 to 47.675. Fifth-year senior Teresa Phipps was Ball State's top competitor with a tie for fifth with a 9.675.
The Eagles posted a narrow 47.950 to 47.800 victory on the beam. Phipps and freshman Katelyn Busacker tied for first with a 9.750. Emmons tied for fourth with a 9.700 mark.
On the floor exercise, Ball State tallied a 47.800 to Eastern Michigan's 48.550. Emmons and Phipps tied for first with 9.800 showings for the Cardinals.
With the loss, Ball State falls to 1-5 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-American Conference. The Cardinals will compete at Southeast Missouri State Thursday, and host Western Michigan Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ball State's Worthen Arena.
