Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals enter today's game with a 5-6 overall record after falling to in-state rival Evansville 73-67 last Tuesday night in Roberts Stadium. Junior forward Emily Maggert had yet another double-double performance with 20 points and 14 rebounds. It was Maggert's seventh double-double of the season and ninth of her career. Sophomore guard Patrice King chipped in 13 points while teammates senior guard Audrey McDonald had 12 and senior forward Danielle Gratton ended the night with 11. The Cardinals led by one at the half, 35-34.
Scouting Butler: Butler is coming off of an 81-84 double overtime loss at Dayton. The Bulldogs enter today's contest with a 6-4 overall record. The loss to Dayton snapped a four game win streak for Butler. The Bulldogs have notched wins over IPFW, Saint Louis, Evansville, Miami University and Cincinnati. Brittany Bowen leads the Bulldogs offensively with 14.3 points pergame while teammate Melanie Thornton is heading the team defensively with 8.0 rebounds a contest.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her second season at Ball State. Packard's overall record at Ball State is 31-15. Beth Couture is in her eighth year as Butler's head coach. Couture owns a 111-107 career record at Butler and 369-224 overall.
Three Game Roadswing: So far the Cardinals are 1-1 on their three game roadswing. Ball State faced Duquesne first and won 71-62 Saturday. The Cardinals lost to Evansville last Tuesday before ending road play at Butler, Dec. 30.
