Women's Basketball Defeats Northern Arizona

For the third straight game, junior forward Emily Maggert led the Cardinals in scoring. She tallied her fifth double-double of her career with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Ball State was also led by sophomore guard Patrice King's 15 points.
Ball State managed to outrebound Northern Arizona 46-to-28 in the contest to seal the victory.
Northern Arizona knocked down two free throws to take its first lead of the game at the 14:16 mark in the second half.
King hit a jumper to make it a 66-64 ball game, and a defensive stop at the opposite end of the court allowed senior forward Danielle Gratton to hit a three point basket which put the Cardinals up by four (68-64) with 3:35 remaining in the second half.
The Cardinals would hit their free throws down the stretch to win the ball game.
Ball State started off strong, scoring six straight points in the opening minutes of the game. The Cardinals held Northern Arizona scoreless up until the 16:15 mark of the first half.
With 12:05 remaining in the first half McDonald knocked down her second three pointer of the half to put Ball State up 16-9 over the Lumberjacks. McDonald's three point basket made her the 20th member of the Ball State women's basketball 1,000-point club.
The Cardinals led the entire first period. Ball State led by as many as 11 (20-9) with 11:05 left on the clock. Ball State ended the half with a 36-32 edge over Northern Arizona.
