Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals fell 61-58 to Western Kentucky Monday night in Worthen Arena. With the loss Ball State falls to 0-2 overall while the Lady Toppers improved to 2-0. Junior forward Emily Maggert recorded her second straight double-double night after recording 22 points and 11 rebounds. The double-double performance Monday was the fourth of Maggert's career. Senior guard Audrey McDonald dropped in 11 points and dished out four assists, while sophomore guard Patrice King had 10 points on the night. Ball State takes on Northern Arizona as part of a double-header with the Ball State men's basketball team Saturday in Worthen Arena. The men will take on SIU-Edwardsville at 2 p.m. and the women will follow with a 4:30 p.m. tipoff. Ball State is coached by Kelly Packard who is in her second season at the helm of the Cardinals. She currently owns an overall record of 26-11.
Scouting Northern Arizona: The Lumberjacks make their first visit to Ball State Saturday. Currently NAU has a 0-3 record after suffering losses to Pepperdine (96-67), UC Riverside (81-63) and UMKC (59-58). Northern Arizona is on a four-game roadswing heading into its trip to Muncie Saturday. Freshman guard Amy Patton is the strong shooter for NAU as she is averaging 19.0 points per game so far this season and 8.7 rebounds. The Lumberjacks are coached by Laurie Kelly who is in her seventh season at the helm of NAU. She owns a 92-93 overall record. Northern Arizona is a member of the Big Sky Conference.
