Women's Basketball Adds Transfer From IU

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball head coach Kelly Packard announces the addition of Indiana University transfer Ebony Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./Arlington) to the Ball State women's basketball program.
"Ebony Jackson is a tremendous addition to our program, and we are very excited that she believes Ball State is a fit for her both as a student and a student athlete," said Packard. "Ebony has a very solid understanding of the game and she possesses a great mix of perimeter and post skills. It will be a fun challenge to be creative and strategic to decide where her talents best compliment our team."
Jackson is a 5-10 guard who attended the same high school as current senior guard Porchia Green. She spent the 2007-08 season with the Hoosiers. Jackson scored four points in five minutes against Penn State. She grabbed five boards at Wisconsin while tying a career-best with eight points and two assists against Michigan State. Jackson collected a career-high six rebounds in IU's win over Northwestern. She had a career night in IU's win over Purdue scoring eight points. Jackson scored six points on a pair of 3-pointers off the bench against No. 21/22 Florida State.
At Arlington High School Jackson served as team captain as a junior and senior. She averaged 14.5 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game as a senior. Jackson helped Arlington to a 15-6 mark in 2007. She was a 2007 Indiana All-Star and a junior all-star nominee in 2006. She averaged 17.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, three steals and three assists during her junior season.
Jackson was also a 2006 Street & Smith's All-America honorable mention honoree. She earned all-city honors as a junior and senior and all-conference and all-metro accolades as a junior. Jackson helped Arlington to a Indianapolis Public School Athletic Conference Championship in 2004-05 and 2006-07. She was honorable mention All-Marion County in 2005 along with being one of Indiana's Top 40 Seniors in 2007. Jackson also lettered in track and field.
Jackson will be eligible to play second semester of the 2009-10 season.
