ELM GROVE, Wis. - The Ball State University men's tennis team concluded its competition at the 33rd Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Sunday afternoon at the Western Racquet Club hosted by Marquette.
Ball State played seven singles matches against Northwestern and managed three victories. Sophomore Eduardo Pavia (Carolina, Puerto Rico) captured a 7-5, 7-6 win over Northwestern's Joshua Graves. Senior Jorge Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/San Ignacio) defeated Tobias Reitz, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action Ball State defeated Wisconsin taking two out of the three matches. The Cardinals twosome of Pavia and Rodriguez took down Dierberger and Rassow-Kantor, 9-7. Sophomore Shaun Bussert (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) and teammate Zane Smith (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) earned an 8-2 victory over Chari and Hodgson.
The Ball State men's tennis team will be back in action Oct. 3-5, as they host the Ball State Fall Invitational at Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
