Williams & Johnson Set NCAA Provisional Qualifying Marks in BSU Quadrangluar

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio ? The Ball State women's track and field team tied for ninth place in the Mid-American Conference Championship meet with 35 points. Eastern Michigan also finished the meet with 35 points.

Akron won the meet with an impressive 208.5 points as Western Michigan took second with 153 points and Miami rounded out the top three with 73.5 points.

Katie Johnson and Amanda Barnhart each earned ten points for the Cardinals. Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.69. Barnhart won the long jump with a leap of 20-2 ?.

Ali Bishel earned five points for BSU with a fourth place finish in the 10000-meter run. She finished the race in 36:29.43. Bishel also had an eighth place finish in the 5000-meter run to earn an additional point for the Cardinals. She finished the 5000 in 17:59.08.

Jenna Schmitmeyer earned three points with a sixth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.62). She was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished fourth to earn three points for Ball State. The team of Megan Bevans, Erin Filak, Schmitmeyer and Johnson ran the 4x400 relay in 3:55.20.

Lanae Stovall placed eighth in the heptathlon with 4,422 points. Her top performance came in the shot put as she won with a throw of 36-10 ?. She finished third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.56), and took fifth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.95.
