Rachael Pruett Named MAC Golfer of the Week
April 17, 2008 | Women's Golf
Rachael Pruett (Linton, Ind./Stockton H.S.), a freshman member of the Ball State University women's golf team, was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance in Ball State's own Cardinal Classic Sunday and Monday.
Pruett placed third in the 66-person field with a 74-77=151 on the par-71, 5,900-yard, Delaware Country Club in Muncie. The third-place finish was the highest of the season and the 74 in Monday's final round was a collegiate career-best for the Ball State freshman.
The Cardinals won the 12-team tournament with a score of 620, outdistancing second-place Longwood's 624 and Grand Valley State's 626. The victory marked the fourth tournament win of the season for Ball State.
This marks the first time Pruett has won the weekly award, and the second time this season Ball State has won the award. Kirsty O'Connor received the honor after her performance March 24-25 at the Butler Spring Invitational.
Ball State will complete its regular season at the MAC Championships at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course April 25-27.
