
Gymnastics Claims First Win Of The Season At UIC

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Ball State University women's gymnastics team (1-10, 0-5 MAC) claimed its first win of the season with a second place showing at Illinois-Chicago Saturday night.
The Cardinals scored a 193.175 total behind first place winner Southeast Missouri State which scored a 194.350. Host UIC placed third with a score of 193.050.
Junior Cobie Zuk took seventh on vault for the Cardinals with a career high score of 9.700. Sophomore Ashley Jacob and senior Erica Gilkerson tied for 10th with a 9.650.
Zuk shined on bars with a 9.750 which was a personal best. Zuk won the event, teammates senior Kristin Sprague and Jacob tied for third place honors with a 9.725. It was a career high on bars for Sprague.
Gilkerson tied with the Flames Karen Morales and Emily Fiorilli along with Jen Nguyen and Sanda Blake for a first place showing on beam with a 9.800. Gilkerson's score was a personal best for the senior. Gilkerson continued her career breaking performances with a win on floor after a score of 9.875.
Zuk took third in the all-around with a personal high total of 38.425.
BSU scored a 48.150 on vault, took second on bars which made a difference in the victory with a 47.950, earned a 48.400 on beam for a second place finish and compiled a 48.675 on floor.
Ball State women's gymnastics will travel to Central Michigan for its last regular Mid-American Conference meet of the season March 15 at 7 p.m.
