ABOUT THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals are 7-8 overall going into their spring break trip . . . They recorded a 2-3 record at the UT-Martin Tournament, including a 15-1 win over Dartmouth . . . BSU was on top 5-1 going into the top of the seventh inning . . . The Cards scored 10 runs off seven hits in the top of the seventh . . . Amanda Pick hit a home run and later returned in the inning to reach on a single . . . Pick finished the game 5-5 . . . She is leading the Cardinals offense this season hitting .366 with two doubles, a triple, three home runs and a team-high 10 RBI . . . Tiffany Garofano and Elizabeth Milian have been productive on the mound for BSU . . . Milian is 4-3 with an ERA of 2.53 . . . Garofano has a team-high 42 strikeouts and has a 2.36 ERA.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
The Beavers were ranked at the start of the season, but a 9-12 overall record has them out of the top 25 entering the FIU tournament . . . They went 1-4 last weekend at the CSUF Worth Tournament picking up a win against Loyola 12-4 . . . Dani Chisholm leads the team with a .379 batting average . . . Chisholm has four doubles, a triple and 12 RBI . . . Cambria Miranda has a .323 batting average, five doubles, five home runs and a team-high 13 RBI . . . Oregon State has Kelly Dyer and Stefanie Draper split time on the mound . . . Dyer has an ERA of 3.47 with a team-high 58 strikeouts . . . Draper is 5-3 with a 4.04 ERA . . . MAC WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK (Feb. 27)
Tiffany Garofano went 1-1 at the Panera Bread Tournament with an ERA of 2.00 . . . She recorded 21 strikeouts and only gave up four runs through 14 innings pitched . . . She recorded a career high 12 strikeouts against St. Francis to lead BSU to a 2-1 victory.
MAC WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Feb. 27)
Amanda Pick hit .429 with a slugging percentage of 1.000 at the Panera Bread Tournament . . . She had two doubles, two home runs and five RBI helping the Cardinals to a 4-1 record in the tournament . . . Pick hit her first home run of the season against East Tennessee State . . . She also hit a three-run home run against Lipscomb to lead Ball State to a 5-3 victory.
MILIAN ON THE MOUND
Freshman Elizabeth Milian made an immediate impact during her freshman season on the mound for Ball State . . . She ended the year with a 14-19 record with an ERA of 2.66 . . . Milian recorded a team-high 113 strikeouts while also leading the team in innings pitched (221) . . . In 2008 she leads the team with four wins and 44.1 innings pitched.
STRIKE THREE, YOUR OUT!
Tiffany Garofano has shut down opponents so far this season . . . Garofano has recorded a team-high 42 strikeouts, and has the best ERA on the team at 2.36.
HOME SWEET HOME
Ball State's first home game at the BSU Softball Complex is scheduled for March 18 against Eastern Illinois . . . The Cards will host Ohio University to start Mid-American Conference play.
SEND HER HOME
The Cardinals broke the runs scored record in 2007 with 221 . . . The old record was 214 set by the 1998 team . . . Allie Pennock returns for her junior season -- Pennock scored 37 runs last year which placed her second all-time in the single season BSU record books . . . Allie Pennock and Lisa Rozanski have scored eight runs a piece to lead the Cardinals in 2008.
STAR SENIORS
Abby Gross entered her senior season as the career home run leader in Ball State history with 15 . . . Gross also ranked third on the career BSU records list with 75 RBI . . . Gross started the 2008 season with a home run against LSU, Feb. 15 at Tiger Park . . . Gross is hitting .262 with a .405 slugging percentage and 9 RBI so far this season . . . Amanda Pick leads the team with three home runs and 10 RBI.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
Alicia Barkley, Alyssa Collins and Lisa Rozanski have all made an impact for the Cardinals during thier freshmen season . . . Barkley has started all 15 games at shortstop for BSU . . . Barkley is hitting .289 with a double and three RBI . . . Collins starts in right field and has a batting average of .275 . . . Rozanski starts in center field for the Cards . . . Rozanski is hitting .216 and leads the team with 10 stolen bases.

Ball State will host Eastern Illinois in the home opener March 18, when they return from their Florida trip . . . The doubleheader will take place at the BSU Softball Complex and will start at 2 p.m.
