Women's Track Sets Top Marks in Home Triangular Meet

The Ball State women's track and field team earned five first-place finishers, tied a school record, and broke a school record but couldn't avoid finishing in third place at the 2008 BSU Triangular held in the
Taking first place in the event was Western Michigan (114.5), followed by
The Cardinals, who rested some of their top competitors in preparation for next week's Mid-American Conference Championships, held the lead through the first nine events but fell behind despite several stellar performances.
Lauren McNichols broke her previous record of 11-7 3/4 in the pole vault by recording a height of 12-0.
Cara Collins finished second in the weight throw, but managed to tie Janee Langhorne's school record with a distance of 60-7 3/4. Collins also placed first in the shot put and moved into third in school history with a distance of 45-09 3/4.
Amanda Barnhart earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 19-9 1/2 while teammates Terri Abraham and Lindsay Bangert placed second and third, respectively.
Coming off MAC Track Athlete of the Week accolades just two weeks ago, Ali Bishel placed first in the mile with a time of 4:55.51.
Rounding out the Cardinals' first-place finishers was Vanessa Gilbert in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:35.93.
