Women's Hoops Faces Richmond In Crimson Tide Classic

Scouting Ball State:
After an overtime victory at Western Kentucky Saturday, Dec. 20 the Cardinals had a quick turnaround as they hosted the Temple Owls Monday, Dec. 22. Ball State lost 78-73 but played tough against Temple leading 32-30 at the half. With 8:36 to play the Owls managed a 57-56 advantage and then managed to rattle off nine unanswered points to move ahead 66-56 with 5:03 to play. Sophomore forward Emily Maggert led the Cardinals with a season high 21 points, and left her just three points shy of tying her career-high. Senior guard Porchia Green managed her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Cardinals now travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. where they will participate in the Crimson Tide Holiday Classic. Ball State faces the Richmond Spiders Monday at 1 p.m. The Cardinals could potentially play Belmont or Alabama in their next game Dec. 30.
Scouting Richmond: The Richmond Spiders recently defeated Drexel 73-60. Guard Brittani Shells scored a game-high 30 points going 10-of-11 from the charity stripe teammate guard Johanna McKnight netted 14 points and Abby Oliver came off the bench scoring 11. Richmond owns an overall record of 10-1. The Spiders only loss came against Towson Dec. 13 when Richmond lost 56-48.
Series History: This is the first time Ball State and Richmond have met.
Next Up: Ball State will face either Alabama or Belmont in the Crimson Tide Holiday Classic Dec. 30. The Cardinals continue their three-game road swing as they travel to St. Louis, Jan. 4. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. EST.
