November 24, 2008 | Football
For the seventh straight week, the Ball State football team is ranked in the nation's major polls. The Cardinals, 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the Mid-American Conference, will host Western Michigan Tuesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Ball State, which has been ranked this season for the first time in school history, is ranked 15th in The Associated Press Poll, the USA Today Coaches Poll and in the Bowl Championship Series Standings. The BCS Standings use three polls to compile their percentages -- the Harris Interactive Poll, the USA Today Coaches Poll and computer rankings. There are six computer rankings used to come up with the one-third of the BCS Standings. Ball State is 14th in the Harris Interactive and 16th in the compilation of computer rankings. Ball State, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Brady Hoke, is off to an 11-0 start for the first time in school history. Ball State is 7-0 in MAC play for the first time since the 1978 campaign when the Cardinals won all eight of their league contests. The Cardinals will host Western Michigan Tuesday in a 7 p.m. contest to be televised on ESPN2. The Broncos are 9-2 overall and 6-1 in league play. Western Michigan and Central Michigan are tied for second in the MAC West Division at 6-1, while Ball State is in first at 7-0.
