
Field Hockey Falls In Regular Season Finale at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio. ? The Ball State field hockey team concluded the regular season with a loss to the RedHawks 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Miami Turf Field.
Jodi Mann and Brittany Hammer led Ball State with two shots for the Cardinals.
Courtney Frentz facilitated the RedHawks' attack by scoring a hat trick on Miami's Senior Day. Danielle Gaynor and Elizabeth Gilroy added two more goals for Miami. All five goals came in the first half.
Ball State's defensive struggle allowed the RedHawks to lead 18-7 in shots as well as earn 9 penalty corners to Ball State's two.
Miami goalkeeper Megan Stengel logged four saves in the match and earned her fifth career shutout.
Tiffany Shifflett earned one save for the game. Freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Mitchell (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) made her second appearance this season as she entered play at the 18:57 mark. Mitchell allowed two goals in the first half but held Miami scoreless for the last 47 minutes.
Ball State finishes 2-16 overall and 1-9 in the MAC. The Cardinals will face the No. 4 seed Central Michigan in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament as they are the No. 5 seed, beating out Missouri State in a head-to-head point differential. Game time is set for noon Thursday, November 6 in Kent, Ohio.
