Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals are coming off of a 75-69 exhibition win over the Hoosier Lady Stars. Ball State had four players score in double digits Friday night. Danielle Gratton scored 22 points and was perfect from three-point range going 4-for-4 from behind the arc. Emily Maggert recorded 14 points while teammates Audrey McDonald managed11 points and Kiley Jarrett ended the night with 10. The Cardinals are the two-time defending Mid-American Conference West Division Champions who begin a new era under the direction of head coach Kelly Packard. Ball State ended the 2007-08 season with an overall record of 15-15 and went 11-5 in league play. For just the second time in program history, the Ball State women's basketball team has been invited to play in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament. The last time the Cardinals participated in the preseason WNIT was in 2002-03. The Cardinals lost to No. 15 Kansas, 71-61.
Scouting Indiana: Indiana has played two exhibition games with wins over Southern Indiana (93-49) and Indianapolis (82-56). In its first exhibition game win over Southern Indiana, three Hoosiers scored in double digits. Guard Haylie Linn led the team with 16 points. Guards Jori Davis netted 15 points and Kim Roberson had 11. IU ended exhibition action with a victory over Indianapolis. Four Hoosiers managed to reach double digits with Davis leading the pack with 19. Forward Whitney Thomas had 18 points, Roberson ended the night with 14 and forward Amber Jackson scored 10. The Hoosiers ended the 2007-08 season with an overall record of 18-15 and finished 10-8 in the Big Ten Conference to tie for fifth place. Indiana's invitation to the preseason event marks the first since the 1998-99 season when the Hoosiers went 2-2 with wins over Cincinnati (Nov. 13; 61-51) and Missouri State (Nov. 15; 63-60), before falling to Rutgers in the third round, 60-53, on Nov. 19. The Hoosiers then lost to Florida in the consolation game, 72-67, on Nov. 20.
