Ball State opened the fourth set strong, playing to a 3-1 advantage, only to see EMU rally off the next three points and take a 4-3 edge. Next, it was the Cardinals turn at a run, as BSU rattled off the following four points to take a 7-4 lead and force an EMU timeout.
The Eagles scored the first three points out of the break tying the set once again at 9-9. From there, the teams played to a 14-14 deadlock, before a three kills from Breivogel over the next six points lead to a 19-15 Ball State advantage and forced EMU to call its second timeout.
