Green and Maggert Selected Preseason All-MAC

"The Preseason All-MAC honor for both Porchia and Emily is a tremendous compliment and recognizes the individual talent both of these young ladies possess as well as the respect they have earned throughout the conference," said head women's basketball coach Kelly Parckard.
Green garnered First Team All-MAC honors in 2007-08, helping her team to the MAC West Division titles for the fourth time in school history. Green led the team in scoring averaging 13.0 points a contest and in rebounding pulling down 6.9 boards per game. She started all 30 games for the Cardinals last season. Green ranks 17th all-time in Cardinals history with 467 rebounds, 11th all-time in career assists with 277, 11th in career steals with 142 and tied for ninth in blocked shots at 53.
"Porchia, now a veteran and a previous All-MAC first team selection, has obviously performed at a level of excellence during her career to this point, and is fully expected to impact both our team and the league as a whole," said Packard. "Porchia has a level of consistency in both work ethic and effort that ultimately produces results on the floor."
Maggert was named to the All-MAC Freshman team and earned the MAC's Sixth Player of the Year, the first Cardinal all-time to earn the postseason accolade. As a true freshman, Maggert saw action in all 30 games, while averaging 12.1 points per game against league opponents and was second in the MAC in shooting at 59.1 percent (78-132). "Emily attracted a great deal of attention and respect during her freshman season scoring nearly 10 points per contest," said Packard. "Her fundamental footwork, attention to detail, and her general understanding of the game positioned her to have the type of season she had last year, and have obviously escalated the expectations for this season."
