Men's Tennis Sweeps IPFW, 7-0

The Ball State University men's tennis team (1-2) notched a 7-0 victory at home Thursday afternoon over IPFW (0-4).
The Cardinals won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead over IPFW. The twosome of Joe Vallee (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) and Shaun Bussert (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) downed the Mastodon's No. 1 doubles tandem of Arturo Salgado and Nabil Mourad Filho by a score 8-3. Ball State's No. 2 duo of Jorge Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Ignacio) and Danny Vidal (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Igancio) captured an 8-4 decision over Hermann Kuschke and Francisco Sigaud to secure the doubles point.
Ball State won all six of its singles matches. Bret Berryman (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) posted a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over Kuschke at the No. 1 spot. Vallee collected the No. 2 singles victory over Filho, 6-2, 7-5. At No. 4 Jimmy Brannon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) cruised past Constantino, 6-1, 6-1. Bussert earned the 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sigaud at No. 6. Other Cardinals posting singles victories were Rodriguez and Vidal.
Men's Tennis continues its four-match home stand on Saturday, Jan. 26 as they host Big Ten foe Michigan. Michigan is the third Big Ten opponent the Cardinals have faced this season. The match will begin at 6 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
