
Swimming & Diving Defeats Illinois State, 192-106

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's swimming and diving team defeated Illinois State by a score of 192 to 106 on Saturday afternoon at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
BSU opened the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay. The quartet of juniors Erika Paul, Lauren Harger and freshmen Maria Gramelspacher and Katie Bylsma swame a 1:49.40 for the win.
Ehresman won the 1000 free with a time of 10:33.01. Gramelspacker notched her second victory of the day in the 200 free after clocking in a time of 1:55.32 and led the Cardinals with win number three in the 200 IM (2:12.67). Junior Erika Paul captured the 100 back event with a 59.85 final and the 200 back with a time of 2:10.49.
Harger grabbed her second win of the day in the 100 breast (1:06.29) and teammate Bylsma also added another win for herself in the 50 free (25.05). Junior Megan Ploetz swam a 2:05.81 in the 200 fly for the victory.
Other top finishers for the Cardinals were senior Michelle Huang in the 100 free (54.83) and senior Addison Del Rio in the 500 free (5:13.23).
In the diving events sophomore Lisa Maertin took first in the 1-meter with a score of 266.40 and senior Stephanie Paul won the 3-meter with a 297.23 final.
Ball State swimming and diving returns to Mid-American Conference action on the road at Eastern Michigan Saturday, Jan. 26. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
