
Swimming and Diving Win Four-Way Dual Meet At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving team competed at IUPUI on Friday night at the four-way dual meet. The Cardinals captured the dual meet over St. Louis, IUPUI and Western Illinois.
The women opened the night up with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay. The foursome of Erika Paul, Lauren Harger, Maria Gramelspacher and Addison Del Rio clocked in a time of 1:49.66 for the win.
The men also took home the win in the 200 yard medley with the quartet of Tyler Dixon, Ryan Franklin, Jacob Morris, and Ben Battjes swimming a top time of 1:37.14.
Mary Ehresman captured the 1000 free with a time of 10:28.78.
Gramelspacher was a winner in the 200 free (1:55.32.).
For the men Austin Laska swam a 1:46.22 in the 200 free to win that event.
Emily Hurst took top honors in the 100 breast (1:07.58), the 200 breast (2:28.10) and in the 200 IM (2:13.47).
Franklin won the 100 breast for the men after clocking in a 59.98 final and took top honors in the 200 breast (2:13.68).
Other top finishers for the Cardinals were Megan Ploetz in the 200 fly (2:07.99), Katie Bylsma in the 50 free (24.48) and in the 100 free (53.61), Battjes in the 50 free (21.68), Paul in the 200 back (2:09.28), Sarah Kehe in the 500 free (5:12.92), and Gramelspacher in the 100 fly (58.12).
The men closed the night with a win in the 400 free relay.
In diving Stephanie Paul earned first place honors in the 3-meter event with a 265.55 final while also taking the top spot in the 1-meter with a 265.55 score. Caleb Bye finished fourth in the 1-meter (245.50) and David Linn was fifth in the 3-meter (250.80) for the men.
