Men's Tennis Completes First Day at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team finished its first day of action at the Tom Fallon Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday night.
The Cardinals opened the day with singles play against Big Ten foe Michigan State. Newcomer Eduardo Pavia (Carolina, Puerto Rico) barely lost in three sets 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (10-8), 1-0 (10-3) to Nick Rinks. Junior Jimmy Brannon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was the lone Cardinal to snag a singles victory over Michigan State after defeating Jason Norville, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
In the afternoon Ball State took on Iowa and managed two wins over the Hawkeyes. Pavia was victorious over Reinoud Hall, 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) while teammate sophomore Bret Berryman (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) defeated Walker Grimes, 6-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6).
The Cardinal resume play on Saturday (Sept. 29) beginning at 9 a.m.
