Men's Tennis Completes Day Two of Action at Ball State Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team completed day two of the 29th annual Ball State Invitational on Saturday evening at Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
The Cardinals advance its freshman Eduardo Pavia (Carolina, Puerto Rico) to the final round of the men's singles Flight A bracket. Pavia earned both of his victories in three sets after defeating Ryan Hamning of Cleveland State in the quarterfinals 6-4, 6-2, 10-3 and then went on to win his match over Northern Illinois' Brian Livingston, 3-6, 6-0, 10-7.
In the Flight A consolation, senior Jose Perdomo (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Jose) took down Chris Thomas of Eastern Illinois (7-5, 6-1) and Benjamin Raynauld of Butler (6-7, 6-1, 10-5) to advance to the finals on Sunday (Sept. 16).
BSU freshman Shaun Bussert (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) managed a 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 victory over teammate junior Jorge Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/San Iganacio) to advance to the semifinals. Bussert then posted a 7-6, 6-2 win over Diego Zegarra-Ballon of Northern Illinois and with the win will play in the final round of the men's singles Flight B on Sunday.
In Flight A doubles consolation Danny Vidal (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Ignacio) and Pavia will play in the final match against Bradley.
The Ball State Invitational will end on Sunday (Sept. 16) at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center with matches beginning at 9 a.m.
