August 02, 2007 | Women's Basketball
“I have always wanted one of our own players to eventually join our staff to continue their love of basketball in some form of a coaching capacity,” Roller said. “I could not have asked for someone more ready to make that difficult jump from player to coach than Kelsey Corbin. As a point guard in our program, she understood the importance of work ethic, loyalty, teamwork, communication and the continued pursuit of learning more about the game.”
Corbin just completed a stellar four-year career with the Cardinals in which she became the first player in Ball State women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points, grab 400 career rebounds and dish out 400 career assists. She also finished her career fifth all-time in career games played at 117 and fourth all-time in career assists at 435.
“In this business, outworking your opponent is key and Kelsey already has that understanding of what it takes to be great,” Roller said. Although her duties are limited because of NCAA rules, she will be a great addition to our successful staff.”
Corbin, a three-time team captain, helped guide the Cardinals to 70 victories during her career. She helped BSU take home the Mid-American Conference West Division title in her senior season as the Cardinals posted a 24-7 overall record and advanced to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
