Cards Outslugged 10-6 Sunday In Series Finale At Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Ball State baseball team dropped the final game of its weekend series Sunday at Toledo by a score of 10-6.
Matt Stoeklen and Zach Dygert led Ball State (16-30, 5-16 MAC) with three hits each, and Tyler Rogers recorded a team-high two RBI.
Toledo (22-21, 11-10 MAC) did the majority of its damage in two innings. The Rockets picked up four runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth.
Ball State managed one run in the first inning, three in the third and two in the fifth. The Cardinals, though, went scoreless over the final four innings of the game.
With his three hits, Stoeklen extended his hitting streak to 17 games, the longest by any Ball State player this season. Stoeklen recorded a double in the contest and has now logged an extra base hit in 13 of his past 14 games.
Both teams struggled in the field Sunday with each side recording four errors. Five of Toledo's 10 runs were unearned, and three of Ball State's six were unearned.
The Cardinals used five pitchers on the day. Richie Fralick got the start and took the loss. Greg Gompf earned the win for Toledo after allowing two runs in three innings out of the bullpen. The Rockets' Justin Collop pitched the final four innings for the save.
Scott Boley led Toledo at the plate with three hits and three RBI.
Ball State returns to action with the first of two midweek games Tuesday at Indiana State. The Cardinals then host Huntington in a make-up game Wednesday at Ball Diamond.
