Epkey Named MAC Tennis Player of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. - Senior Joe Epkey (Greenwood, Ind./Center Gove H.S.) of the Ball State University men's tennis team has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, which was announced by the league office today.
Epkey won 3-of-4 matches at No. 1 singles at the Boise State Red Lion Tournament (March 29-31). The senior went 1-3 at No. 1 doubles. Epkey opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Montana's Colin Dektar. He then tallied a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Mathew Berry of San Francisco. Both wins helped the Cardinals go 2-0 in their first day of tournament action. Epkey then ended the weekend with a 7-5 (6), 4-6, 3-2 win over Diego Mattar of Texas-Arlington.
Ball State heads to Toledo in MAC action this weekend on Sunday, April 8. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
