
Cardinals Finish Fourth At Collegiate Challenge

TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Ball State track and field team finished fourth in the 2nd Annual Collegiate Challenge with 115.50 points. Central Michigan took first place with 159 points.
Ball State had two of the top three finishers in the 100-meter dash as Amber Williams placed first (12.29) and teammate Voni Ferguson took third place finishing in 12.46.
Freshman Katie Johnson took first place in two events. Johnson won the 200-meter dash finishing in 25.42, and also won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.36.
Ball State dominated the 1500-meter run. The Cardinals had the top six finishers in the race. Placing first was freshman Ali Bishel (4:44.12), second Sarah Kehe (4:45.50), third Amanda Ponsot (4:49.15), fourth Brittany Ade (4:52.50), fifth Rose Lehe (4:55.16) and finally in sixth Lisa Arrowsmith (4:55.64).
Ali Bishel also won the 3000-meter run finishing in 10:10.14. Sophomore Vanessa Gilbert placed third in a time of 10:28.64.
The 4x400 relay team of Jenna Schmitmeyer, Christina Whitt, Katie Johnson, and Voni Ferguson took first place at the meet with a time of 3:52.69.
In the field events Terri Abraham took third place in the triple jump. Lanae Stovall placed eighth in the long jump and Jessica Genovese finished seventh in the high jump.
Ball State will return to action April 7th to compete in the Indiana Relays held in Bloomington Indiana.
