Del Rio Recipient of Judy Cress Memorial Scholarship

MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior Addison Del Rio of the Ball State University women's swimming and diving team has been selected as the Judy Cress Memorial Scholarship recipient for 2007-08.
The award was initiated 20 years ago to honor a female student-athlete who has achieved high athletic and academic credentials.
The award was established in honor of Judy Cress, who passed away in October of 1987 after spending 10 years as secretary of the women's athletics director of Ball State. The women's athletic director at the time was Andrea Seger.
Del Rio has most recently scored for the Cardinals in the breaststroke and butterfly events at the Mid-American Conference Championship. She was a 2006 US Open Swimming Championship qualifier and participant. Del Rio is a SAAB member and is on the executive board for community service.
Over her career she has been named MAC Swimmer of the Week (11/04, 11/05). She was named First Team All-MAC (2/06). Del Rio has broken three school records in the 200 yard individual medley relay, 100 yard individual medley relay and the 50 yard breaststroke. She holds the top two times in at least six different events for Ball State.
Del Rio will be honored for her achievements at the Ball State softball game on Wednesday, April 25 prior to the first game of the double-header against Purdue. The game will begin at 2 p.m.
