
Women's Tennis Falls To EMU 4-3 In MAC Action

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's tennis team (6-9, 1-2 MAC) fell to Eastern Michigan by a score of 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
The Cardinals got an early jump on the match by winning the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles tandem of junior Haly Calderwood and Sophie Quist knocked off the Eagles twosome Vanessa Frankowski and Yana Parfenyuk, 8-3. At the No. 2 spot junior Jennifer Pollack alongside teammate freshman Christine Stromberg posted a 9-7 come from behind win over Catherine Bestehorn and Aditi Krishnan. Sophomore Emma Retter and freshman Katherine Rist also rallied back for a 9-7 victory at the No. 3 flight over Laura Fernandez and Flavia Micati.
EMU performed strong in singles play winning four of its matches. Stromberg remained undefeated in league play for BSU with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Bestehorn at the No. 4 spot. Retter joined Stromberg in the wins category with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 flight against Emma Czarnecki.
