
Gymnastics Achieves Victory At Alaska Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Ball State University women's gymnastics team defeated Alaska Anchorage for the second time this season after tallying a 189.425 to 186.700 victory late Friday night at Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
The Cardinals finished the night with a 46.925 total on vault, followed by an explosive 48.150 on bars while ending the night with a 46.700 on beam and a 47.650 on floor.
Senior Jenna Tarkington stole the show for the Cardinals after collecting a first place finish on vault to start the night off on the right foot. Tarkington scored a 9.600 while classmate Kelly Watson earned a third place finish with a score of 9.525.
Junior Kristin Sprague took top honors on bars with a score of 9.700 while freshman Megan Howard took second (9.675). Sprague's score on bars was a career best for the junior. Ball State also collected a season best team total on the event (48.150).
The top finisher for the Cardinals on beam was freshman Lauren Shockey who earned a third place finish with a 9.600.
Senior Lauren West rounded out the success for Ball State after a first place finish on floor after totaling a 9.625 final.
Watson took second in the all-around with a 37.525.
