“We are disappointed, but we put the decision in someone else's hands and that's always a concern,” head coach Tracy Roller said. “We really felt like we had a great chance. We are going to regroup, and I feel good about our team and our chances in the WNIT.”
The Cardinals are 24-6 overall on the season and won the Mid-American Conference West Division title as they received an automatic bid into the WNIT. The Cardinals' 24 wins are tied for the most ever in a single season in program history. This is the third time that BSU has played in the WNIT and the first appearance since the 2003 tournament.
