Cardinals Compete In 20th Annual Meyo Invitational; No Team Scoring

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The women's track and field team traveled to the Loftus Sports Center to participate in the Meyo Invitational over the weekend. The meet had 68 athletes mark automatic or provisional qualifications for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was junior Amber Williams. Williams recorded two top ten finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (4th 8.41) and in the 200-meter dash (10th 24.95). Williams' time of 8.41 in the 60-meter hurdles is her best time of the season.
Senior Tamelca Lewis made her best mark of the season in the triple jump with a distance of 39-8.75 good enough for fifth place.
Other notable efforts by Ball State athletes include Rose Lehe finishing 13th (17:27.18) in the 5000 meter run. Teammates Vanessa Gilbert (20th 17:51.19) and Kelsey Nielsen (26th 18:23.28) also placed in the 5000.
Voni Ferguson placed 15th in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 56.77. Freshman Jenna Schmitmeyer finished 23rd in the 500-meter dash (1:19.51).
Ball State returns to action February 10th to compete in the Anderson Invitational.
