Cardinals Compete In Anderson Invitational; No Team Scoring

ANDERSON, Ind -- The Ball State women's track and field team competed in a non-scoring meet Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.
Ball State had success at the meet, with multiple first-place finishes. Amber Williams finished first in the 55-meter dash (7.06), the 200-meter dash (24.79) and the 55-meter hurdles (8.19).
Voni Ferguson placed second in both the 55-meter dash (7.21) and the 200-meter dash (25.10). Ball State had the top four finishers in the 200-meter dash with Katie Johnson taking third place in 25.94, and freshman Jenna Schmitmeyer got fourth (26.61).
Ball State also earned a first-place victory in the 400-meter dash with Amanda Brewer finishing in 1:02.45. Another first place finisher was Amanda Ponsot who finished first in the 800-meter run (2:19.53).
Freshman Ali Bishel won the 3000-meter run (10:05.13) with Rose Lehe finishing in a close second-place clocking in at 10:06.58.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Ponsot, Bishel, Lehe and Lisa Arrowsmith took first place finishing in 4:13.61.
Off the track the Cardinals had four first-place finishes. Jessica Genovese won the high jump clearing 5-3. Lauren McNichols earned first place in the pole vault (10-11.75).
Tamelca Lewis placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 40-2.25. Ball State had the top two finishers in the shot put. Ali Zuiderviet won the event with a throw of 38-3.50 while Candice Jackson came in second throwing 36-4.
Ball State's next meet will be at home in the field sports building. The Ball State Triangular will be held on Friday, February 16th.
