
Ball State Swimming & Diving Wins Doug Coers Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's and women's swimming & diving team won the Doug Coers Invitational Saturday at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
The men finished the day with a 849.50 total while Grand Valley State came in second with 621.50 points and the University of Findlay finished third with 268.
The BSU women took top honors with a 905.50 final followed by Grand Valley State (591.50) and Findlay (213).
The second session began at 9 a.m. Saturday morning with the women winning the 200 medley relay. Erika Paul along with teammates Lauren Harger, Maria Gramelspacher and Katie Bylsma turned in a time of 1:50.13 for the win.
The men also opened the second session with a win in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Tyler Dixon, Ryan Franklin, Jacob Morris and Ben Battjes swam a 1:38.05 final for the victory.
Mary Ehresman managed the fastest time in the 400 IM (4:39.74). Gramelspacher took home first in the 100 fly (58.71) and in the 200 fly (2:08.21). Bylsma managed to swim a time of 1:56.91 in the 200 free taking home first place in that event. Addison Del Rio was a winner in the 100 breast (1:06.91).
Ryan Franklin won the 100 breast for the men after clocking in a time of 1:01.08.
Other first place honorees for the swim team were Erika Paul in the 100 back (1:00.55), Meghan Patterson in the 1650 free (17:50.11), Bylsma in the 100 free (54.00) and Emily Hurst in the 200 breast (2:27.41).
The Cardinal women won the 800 free relay (7:52.37) and 400 free relay (3:36.95).
In diving, Stephanie Paul took top honors in the 3-meter (302.55) and David Linn earned second in the 1-meter after scoring a 233.95 final.
Ball State swimming and diving will continue action at the House of Champions Friday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
