
Swimming & Diving Wins House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State University men's and women's swimming & diving team won the House of Champions Saturday at IUPUI by a team total 1578.
The Ball State men scored a 783 for the victory and the women had a 795. Other teams participating were Northern Colorado, University of Indianapolis, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, IUPUI and Butler.
The women took second in the 200 medley relay to start the day off. The foursome of juniors Erika Paul and Lauren Harger along with freshmen Maria Gramelspacher and Katie Bylsma managed to clock in a time of 1:48.13.
The men also claimed second in the 200 medley relay with the quartet of sophomores Tyler Dixon, Jacob Morris, Ben Battjes and senior Ryan Franklin after turning in a time of 1:37.62.
Sophomore Mary Ehresman earned first place honors in the 400 IM with a time of 4:33.52 and in the 1650 free (17:28.76). Junior Kyle Hembree won that same event for the men swimming a 4:14.95 final.
Harger managed a first place showing in the 100 breast for the women with a time of 1:07.20.
Morris swam a 51.41 final to win the 100 fly for the men. Franklin was victorious in the 100 breast (59.30) and in the 200 breast (2:10.11).
Sophomore Lisa Maertin won the 3-meter diving event with a 232.70 final.
Dixon took first place in the 200 breast with a 1:55.13 final.
The Cardinals will return home to Lewellen Aquatic Center Saturday, Dec. 8 as they take on the Spartans of Michigan State beginning at 1 p.m.
