Women?s Basketball Heads To Wright State Monday

DAYTON, Ohio ? The Ball State women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in the 2007-08 season as the Cardinals travel to Wright State Monday night for a non-conference battle. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center.

The game will be video streamed live on the Horizon League Network (HLN) at www.horizonleaguenetwork.tv All HLN basketball web casts feature a minimum three-camera shoot for a quality viewing experience, as well as audio play-by-play. Registration is required, but all games are FREE.

"Our team and coaches are excited to get back on the court to continue our quick team improvement," seventh-year head coach Tracy Roller said. "Although early in the season, Wright State will challenge us with our first road trip and a quick turnaround from Saturday's game. We will see the heart and determination of our team Monday and I look forward to how we respond."

The Cardinals (0-1) are coming off of a hard fought contest in their season opener as they dropped an 81-62 contest to No. 21/23 Louisville Saturday at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals held a three-point halftime lead and were within four points with seven minutes remaining before Louisville closed the game with a late run.

Sophomore guard Audrey McDonald (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) paced four Cardinals in double figures as she scored a game-high 19 points. McDonald connected on five-of-10 from three-point land as she played all 40 minutes. Junior guard Porchia Green (Indianapolis, Ind./Arlington) was second in scoring as she added 14 points on five-of-nine shooting from the field.

Senior forward Lisa Rusche (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) chipped in 13 points, including her first career three-pointer in the first half. Classmate Julie DeMuth (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) added 10 points as she was eight-of-10 from the free throw line. Junior point guard Kiley Jarrett (Bloomington, Ind./North) moved into the starting lineup and dished out five assists in 40 minutes of action.

Wright State is coming off of a 10-18 season last year in which it finished fifth in the Horizon League with an 8-8 record. The Raiders opened the 2007-08 season on the road at Boston College as they dropped a 68-36 contest to the Eagles.

The Raiders committed 29 turnovers in the loss and were out-rebounded by a 36-15 margin at Chestnut Hill. Kanisha Ward is the only Raider to score in double figures in the contest as she tallied 14 points. Sheylanie Peddy chipped in eight points for the Raiders.

Monday's meeting is the 11th meeting all-time between the Cardinals and the Raiders. Ball State holds a 6-4 advantage in the series all-time, including wins in five of the past six seasons.

Last season, the Cardinals opened the home portion of the schedule with a 75-68 victory over Wright State. Ball State used a 24-7 run in the second half to take the lead for good against the Raiders. The Cardinals hit six straight three-pointers during the run to take the game over.

DeMuth posted her first double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. She connected on six-of-nine from the field and seven-of-eight from the charity stripe. The Cardinals shot 50 percent from both the field and three-point land in the victory.
